Nageli, Carl
[person]
(aka Karl Wilhelm von Nägeli) Swiss botanist who studied cell division and pollination (1817 - 1891). Nageli was a prolific author, writing many technical papers and several books, including A mechanico-physiological theory of organic evolution, published in 1884. Despite the fact that this book discusses inherited characteristics, it makes no mention of Mendel's work, and he is often criticized for its absence.
