A French physicist and chemist, born in Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat, France (1778 – 1850). Gay-Lussac performed extensive research into gases, which influenced the work of the Italian chemist Amedeo Avogadro and the development of Charles’s Law after the French scientist Jacques-Alexandre-César Charles.
