A French physicist and chemist, born in Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat, France (1778 – 1850). Gay-Lussac performed extensive research into gases, which influenced the work of the Italian chemist Amedeo Avogadro and the development of volume and temperature, which he named Jacques-Alexandre-César Charles.
