Chadwick, James

English physicist born in Bollington, Cheshire (1891-1974). Chadwick worked with Ernest Rutherford on the disintegration of atoms by bombarding them with alpha particles. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1935 for his discovery of the neutron.
